Booktrace is a listening tracker. It is not an audiobook player and it does not contain, stream or sell audiobooks. It does not connect to your Audible, Spotify, Libby or any other listening account, and it cannot know your real playback position unless you tell it.
Titles, covers, runtimes, chapter lists, author and narrator credits come from third-party catalogues. That data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, particularly chapter counts and runtimes. Statistics the app computes from it — time remaining at your pace, speed-adjusted totals, goal progress — are estimates built on top of it and inherit any error in it.
Booktrace can discuss a book with you and tries to avoid revealing anything past the point you have reached. It is spoiler-aware, not spoiler-proof. The feature works by telling a language model where you are and instructing it to stay behind that point. Models make mistakes, and it may occasionally reveal something you have not reached yet. If being spoiled would ruin a book for you, do not rely on it.
Language models also state incorrect things confidently. Replies may contain plot points, character names or facts that are simply wrong, including about books that exist. Treat the chat as conversation, not as reference.
Using the chat sends your messages and your reading position to a third-party AI provider. See the privacy policy for exactly what is sent. Do not type anything into it you would not want leaving your device.
You agree not to use the chat to generate unlawful, abusive or infringing content. We may limit how many messages can be sent in a day, and may change or withdraw the feature if the cost or terms of the underlying provider change.
Notes, ratings and goals you write stay yours. They are stored on your device and we make no claim to them. Because they are stored only on your device, you are responsible for your own backups — deleting the app deletes them, and we cannot recover them.
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it. The Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement also applies to your use of the app.
